River Walk

Yesterday we were supposed to go to Sea World though the thunderstorms, tornado warnings and Hurricane Dolly thwarted those plans. So instead we went to the Alamo (which was for whatever reason closed) so we walked along the river walk which was beautiful. Though I have no photographic record of it due to the fact that I was told we were going to the movies and I didn't think I needed to bring my camera for that. We were quite the crew though. We have our three small Asians, my older brother, my mom and step dad along with our friends who live in San Antonio (who have 7 children some of which are also adopted from Asia and the two parents). We will be going to Sea World later today. Photographs will follow. WORD OF THE DAY: bungle

This week my family and I are spending a week in Texas. We drove to Galveston, Texas on Sunday. We spent a couple days on the beach there and are now in San Antonio. We barely missed Hurricane Dolly but had some awesome waves. more pictures to come... I have to download more. Currently Reading: WORD OF THE DAY: bleary

Venn Diagrams and Disappointment

I have been waiting with bated breath for the new season of Project Runway to come. I do not avidly watch television, but I do enjoy Project Runway when it is on. I for the most part have liked and agreed with past winners and those voted off (though I wish Jillian would have won this past season but Christian was talented as well.) Though the other night as I was watching I was making my educated guesses on who would be in top three and bottom and then who would win and the one who would be "out." Though my bottom three were correct as well as my top three...I was extremly saddened to find who they were actually voting off. I had my clairvoyant assumption that Stella would be "out" because she hadn't even draped anything on the form for almost the entire day and kept saying things like "this looks like garbage!" etc. though I don't think she was trying to purposely make a pun even though she was working with trash bags as her material. Though i...

I went to St. Louis for a night and two days this weekend. We went to Six flags on Friday. We handed out fliers and prayed for people door to door on Saturday for a church that just moved into an old theatre. As we drove home we stopped by the Arch. Here is a photograph I took of Autumn and the Arch. Also I thought while I was at it I would finally add a picture of SARS (or Emily, Peaches, Milo...whatev)

A pitiful sight

I am quite the pitiful sight today...well more than usual. I was starting off my day just as I normally do, nothing out of the ordinary. I was riding my bicycle to work as usual. At the end of our street there is an intersecting street that has been under construction for several weeks now. It used to be one of my favorite streets to ride on because it has a nice hill and was a very smooth ride. Now it has like 5 layers of concrete cut out and was filled in with gravel until they do whatever they are going to do. As I was riding down said hill I needed to shift my extremely heavy messenger bag towards my back because it was uncomfortably resting on my collarbone. As I dramatically shifted the weight of my bag, I also hit the gravel just right. Needless to say I was not as agile as normal and my cat-like reflexes must have been gone. I slid to the left and my leg was trapped under my bicycle for a split second or so. I had caught myself mostly except for my leg. My jeans(that I actually...

I have really enjoyed reading other people's blogs and would love to truly maintain my own, though I am kind of a boring person to begin with and it is also hard to write things to an audience when you know in fact that there is no audience. regardless...here I go. heh. 1. yesterday was Independence day...now normally I would go to Corporate Woods for a huge production. Instead I wasn't feeling that great or ambitious and I just wanted to sit back and watch the country club fireworks from the school parking lot with my family. It wasn't a huge production but it was beautiful none the less. 2.I have had the opportunity to read a lot more recently and thought I would update my 2008 Reading list. Read: The Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime Dragon Bones The Organic God Freakonomics Serve God Save the Planet The Ragamuffin Gospel Currently Reading: A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius Next Up: The Red Tent 3. We recently have unofficially added someone to the family...a ...

kindergarten revelations

Recently I have decided that I really love my life and everyone in it. There was not one single thing that made me realize it, rather it was an accumulation of several little things that just illuminated this fact for me. I love creating (whether I am good at it or not is another thing entirely, but i enjoy it none the less.)I have been making a magazine (sort of, more of an informative multi-page hand out with a magazine feel.) Though it is not a major publication or anything, I have thourughly enjoyed myself. I even find myself dreaming of ideas. Speaking of dreams though, a few years back in 2003 I had a dream that I was on the missions field holding a camera and my friend was holding a collection of paper (notepad? tablet? what have you) and she was writing and I was shooting for the purpose of a magazine. Now at the time I was a poor excuse of a photographer (I say this as if I have gotten any better, but truth be told I have a long way to go in my skills before I can say I have ...
