Giddy for the Getty

Image
See what I did there...get it..giddy...Getty? Cornyness aside, I really am giddy for the Getty. Rife with magnificent architecture that is intertwined with nature, natural light and spectacular art. Could it get any better? Why yes, yes, it can when you add friends to the mix!  Seldomly do I have a free day to do as I please, so when I woke yesterday and saw that it was so beautiful outside and that I didn't have any pressing appointments or design projects, I decided to seize the moment and go on an adventure. I put my camera next to me before I left the house and had new batteries to boot, and then of course I completely forgot about it all together. I might be seeing signs of early onset dementia which is kind of disturbing. So naturally all my pictures were taken with my phone, so please don't judge me. In order to get up to the Getty you have to take the tram. Architecture!  Plants! This is normal right? Oh you know. I love the colo...

Catching My Breath

Image
I've realized it is a little difficult to catch your breath while you continue to run. That's what I feel like I have been doing these past few weeks. I thought I would catch my breath after the conference and after traveling across the United States, but evidently I kept putting things off for when I got back. Here are some highlight photos of World Mission Summit (most of which will be around the exhibit I was a part of,  unfortunately I wasn't able to see any other exhibits.) Some of our costumes. We also did human statues as part of our guerrilla marketing. Fuzzy up-close cellphone picture of my costume/hair behind stage. During our "Experience into the world" session. So that's the quick overview of the XAi room. Here are some more non-XAi related WMS pictures.  4,000 + studen...

My Multi-Purpose Scarf

Image
I previously mentioned that I had put my lovely dalmatian patterned scarf through the wringer, let me explain. Within a twenty-four hour period of me getting the poor thing I had left it in the Korean restaurant ( blogged about here ) because I had taken it off so I wouldn't get soup on it. Once I realized I had left it, we immediately returned to retrieve it, so its not like I am completely derelict or anything. I also had a problem with snagging it on occasion but the granddaddy snag happened when I put it in the purse I was borrowing because I was afraid to leave it again. And then it happened, the zipper caught my scarf and about tore it to pieces. The abuse its received just proves it has been used. Sure I could keep it pristine in a box, but what's the point of that really? When I say this scarf has been used, I really mean it too. It is quite multi-purposeful. Exhibit A: Style/ Warmth Exhibit B: To use as a face-mask because you had the 24-hour stomach flu but ...

Christmas Loot

Image
I made out like a bandit this Christmas. I know this is a little delayed since its way past Christmas and all, but I'm just too excited to skip over it. I just wanted to share some of the great loot I came out with. I want to start off by saying that Christmas is more about spending time with loved ones than it is the presents. That being said, I got some awesome stuff from some awesome people.  I have some wonderful family and friends and I just have to say it. There, said it. I am terribly grateful and cannot say thank you enough for all that I got. You can see why... From the top: 2 of the cutest Vietnamese coffee filters you will ever see.  Spices from Penzey's Spices that came with a cookbook to boot. High-top wedge heels, say what you will but I surprisingly like this fad. Vintage Kansas dish towel that I plan on framing. Dalmatian printed scarf, that I have already put through the wringer.  From the left: Necklace that was handcrafted from Vivian's friend...

I Knew It!

I knew this would happen. I had dreams and thoughts of blogging about my roadtrip from Kansas to Texas, blogging through World Mission Summit, blogging through my roadtrip from Texas to California...but I did nothing of a sort. Instead I slept when I had free time and worked or drove during the awake times. In addition to this, my camera's batteries died pretty early in the trip and I was never able to get new ones, so I have some cellphone shots I can share, but that's pretty lame.  Here are all the blog posts I thought of while I was going through the afore mentioned events: - My Spotify Christmas Playlist Vol. 2 (Not happening anymore) -Christmas Present Break Down -My Multi-Purpose Scarf -Steam Punk WMS -On The Road Again -Resolutions and New Beginnings So let me get organized and get my stuff together and I will see what I can come up with. I just got home last night and am still trying to get everything back into order. I have a "to do list" the lengt...
