Look Book

Image
Every so often I like to put together a " look-book " of sorts where I take pictures of my favorite outfits for a quick index of outfits to choose from. In the past I've used a tripod and can situate it fairly easily. Well, a few months back I brought my tripod to an event and it broke. No body did anything to it, it was just so chincy that it just fell apart when I picked it up. So I placed my camera on a pile of books and had to make due. Since I was using a makeshift tripod made of books, some of the pictures are less than quality. I also hadn't done laundry which means not all outfits could be included, but honestly by the time I was done with these pictures I never wanted to take another picture again. I also didn't really focus on accessorizing, changing my makeup or changing my hair. I was just trying to get outfits put together and will change accessories for whatever I'm in the mood for. This sweater has buttons down the back and I have paired ...

Coffee & Cake

Image
Kentucky butter, coconut, mocha, orange, Irish cream, vanilla, pistachio, red velvet, lemon-poppy, banana nut, pecan fudge, pumpkin, chocolate, apple caramel, and blueberry...all the bundt you could handle. The table came together wonderfully, but not one of pictures turned out great. So please don't judge by the photo, this is just supposed to be a glimpse. On a different note, I went to a coffee break at the Dashew Center today, where they serve coffees from several countries for international students to mingle together and meet American students. They had coffees from Israel, Vietnam, Cuba, and Italy. Hands down my favorite coffee was from Vietnam, its served with sweetened condensed milk and has this cool little filter thing they place on the cup. So each individual cup is made fresh. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dashew , the founder of the Dashew Center, today as well which was quite exciting. He has done some amazing work and it was great getting to actuall...

Bundt-tastic!

Since the Autumn Moon Fest we have had a tailgate, 2 services, prayer meetings, an International Student Friendship (ISF) Fall party, Encounter Groups and ISF Bible Study to boot! (Check out the Chi Alpha website to see pictures of the afore mentioned events.) Tomorrow I will work at book table, help in the kitchen getting dinner ready for the evening, set-up my dessert table, set-up the Green Bookshelf (where we donate used and new books and trade with each other), attend service, and help serve said food following the service. For the first three services we wanted to "surprise and delight" our students with not only dinner but special dessert tables after dinner. The first Element fellowship we had a sundae bar with 70+ topping choices. The second Element we had 900 cookies with a variety of flavors. And **Spoiler Alert! tomorrow night I am in charge of a bundt cake table. I have wrangled an amazing team of people to bake 15 bundts! I also have been working...

Bangs

Image
I've been tres busy lately and haven't been able to really catch my breath yet. I have plenty of material to blog about but I think I will have to do a summarization blog to kind of talk about it all at once. I would do that right now, but I am still busy getting things done and won't be able to organize it all yet. So this will have to tide you over till I can post more. Yes, yes, I did cut my bangs. I had tried to grow my bangs out and switched my part from being to the side to more centered. Then I realized if I moved or had my picture taken my hair looked ridiculous so I cut them.  (Here is a before picture, to give you an idea of what I was going for) That's all for now.

Autumn Moon Fest

Today on the way to church I found that the main street I have to cross in order to get to church was completely blocked off because of a race. I thought it was just a bike race so we kept driving west towards the beach to go around the race, it turns out it was a triathlon and they were literally coming from the ocean. The race started in the ocean and went all the way to downtown LA from 7am-11am. The only other option was taking the 405 during Carmaggedon. Needless to say I didn't make it to church. Though I did make it to my friends' Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration. Shego and Margaret spent hours preparing this glorious meal! It was so so wonderful, and you should be jealous. n__n We had: baby bamboo, seaweed, shrimp, dehydrated baby shrimp, fried tofu, dehydrated potatoes, cucumbers in vinegar, fried rice, poridge, and moon cakes. As I was setting the timer, I accidentally took a picture. While flipping through the pictures on my camera it looked like I ...
