Getting Crafty: Wallets & Bags

So I bought an SD card reader a few weeks ago so I could load photos on my computer from my camera. Though after loading all the senior and engagement photos the SD reader has come up missing in the Bermuda Triangle known as our house. I was willing to pay a whole dollar  to whoever found it though after an hour we called off the search party in defeat. So when I find it I will post my photos I took at the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibit at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art (that is if I still feel like it is relevant enough to post them). In lieu of the Kahlo/Rivera pictures I have decided to post about my clumsy learnings in sewing and leathersmithing (is that a word?). I've taken advantage of my time with my family and had my mom teach me how to put in a zipper and how to change the needle on my sewing machine. Back in November of last year my friends and I tracked down leather couches being given away on Craigslist so we could skin them and reuse the leather. We ...

STEP 1: Pick out a postcard while you are at Hammerpress during the Crossroad's Art District First Friday. I prefer the center box but the postcard doesn't fit.  I liked the pop of color and the metal clasp of the first one, so that is the one I went with. STEP 6: Package it all up and send it to the Steven, the ...

I do realize my shoes don't exactly go with the outfit but they are the only heels I packed for Kansas. I saw the dress on the left in a magazine a couple weeks ago. While I was in H&M with a friend the other day I saw this dress that had a similar shape but had pleather detailing instead of the entire dress being leather. I was in love. Though to my chagrin I found that the dress was not the right size and it was the only one of its kind. They had a couple dresses with the same shape but none of them had the pleather and they all had some obnoxious pattern on them. I walked away sad. I even ventured to other locations and they looked at me like I was crazy, they had never seen the dress before. Yesterday when I was leaving for Kansas City my dear friend, Fitz pulled a box out of a bag and behold it was an early birthday present for your's truly! Inside laid the exact dress I had my eyes set on and it was my size! And a long fancy shmancy necklace to boot!  Jus...
