Life's Mysteries

Image
There are some things in life that will always remain a mystery to me and I will make no attempts to try to understand them. Ignorance is bliss? I am not sure. My list is much more extensive than this but these are the main mysteries that elude me. 1. Cholesterol -Like David Sedaris in "When You Are Engulfed in Flames," once someone starts to discuss cholesterol I check out. My mind starts to wander and the path of least resistance takes over. I think it may have something to do with salt intake and may affect your heart but that is all gathered information from oatmeal commercials. If someone asks me what my level is I will respond with a blank stare. 2. The Stock Market and anything associated with the stock market, i.e. Nasdaq, Dow Jones, Industrial Average, and who is kidding who, decimal numbers in general.- I would say some of the few bits I do understand about the stock market though I am having troubles coming up with anything. ( I love the movie Trading Places, exce...

My Synopsis

Image
When arriving back home to Kansas, the air was so humid it was like drinking a cup of water with every breath. Sheesh. Evidently it has rained 6 inches in the last week. As you may already know I have been in Los Angeles for the past 12 days. It was going to be 8 then 9 and finally 12 days it was. Here is a rundown of things I did while in LA: Day 1: Barbecue- with volleyball, botchy ball, ultimate frisbee and tons of people. Later that night I was introduced to Yogurtland , which is pretty much amazing. Day 2: Had Greek food and dessert with Winston, Jessica and Sara. I took the Jessica Tour of UCLA campus, which is gorgeous by the way. Then Jessica and I went to Santa Monica for shopping aka H&M and to go to the Pier. (I saw the actor from Princess Diaries which is one step closer to knowing Robert Schwartzman which is a step closer to Jason Schwartzman . Then we can get married and Sophia Coppola will be my cousin. Perfect. Oh and I saw Tanisha Harper, my second favorite mode...

The last time I got sleep

Image
So much to share... but where to begin? This is where mind melding would really come in handy. I am not really feeling deep or witty at the time. No thoughts on anything, no funny anecdotes, nothing thought provoking (as if I normally have any of that). So I feel like this is more of a current event update or something. As of late I have felt like I have had no time to really rest or sleep. If I do have time to myself I feel I must fill it with all the many responsibilities and things that lie ahead. I am a "work before play" type of person, so it is sort of impossible for me to feel completely relaxed until I get everything possible accomplished. If a teacher plans a test the day you get back from a break, for me there will be no break. Like a proverbial black cloud following me around until it is finished. So that being said, I have not put a lot of time into my blog lately and even feel quasi-anxious right now, knowing I have work to be done. Though so I do not get too ...

I'm tired

I would post more but I have no energy. I will write more later. Just know my next post will most likely include: food, retreat, 5K/10K and more food. Until then, I hope you are all doing well and finding the rest I have lost. shalom ----Update------- Ok correction, I thought I was exhausted, but now I am beyond exhausted. As in exhausted would feel restful right now.

Confession

So I have a confession: I like Glee. Judge me if you will, I am sorry, it's funny and has great break-out-in-song scenes, though meld better than most musicals. I thought that after showing what I deemed cute and would be under your scrutiny already I might as well come out and tell you about this as well. Though for some redemption I will tell you that I also love Project Runway, Lost (though I am way behind in Lost) and House. If that makes you judge me as well then I don't know what to tell you. I think this parody is great by the way. Bahaha Coming soon to bowlcutsandchippedteeth... Spinach Strawberry Kiwi Salad, Artichoke Apricot Chicken Flambe (yes, I actually flambeed something! Exciting and terrifying at the same time), and gardening stuff.

Well that's just cute.

Okay so I thought I would make a post of cute/ clever/ fun little things that I have accumulating on my computer. Let me begin by defining things I find adorable: small fluffy animals, grandpas, things grandpas do like picking out outfits, and miniature things. So basically this post will include animals and miniatures and just sheer clever things I like. (Don't judge me for this post) Starting off with Sharon Montrose's photography. Love. Generally speaking I am not much of a lover of animal photography, I am kind of indifferent. But this is great. Then moving down to this awesome Yeti Cake... Julia ,a friend from high school, didn't want to waste a crumbled bunt cake and got creative. It is all in the presentation. For some reason I like miniature things. I found this on a blog that I can no longer find. hmm. Jessica Hiavac makes miniature foods made of molding clay stuff. Get it? Teashirt bags. bahaha I like them so much I would contemplate drinking tea. (Which by...

Waldorf Astoria

So I actually made a completely different blog post earlier about cute stuff. Literally. Then I decided to post that later on and to tell you about my weekend instead. I already told you about Thursday being our Passover Dinner and how some friends and I went to First Friday, though my weekend didn't end there. Saturday I spent a lazy day going to Second Chance Thrift Store off of Troost (don't worry I wasn't alone.) Then we went to the magical Blackwell Thrift, where everything is not sorted by product by rather by color. Aw, it's wonderful. Rows of clear glass followed by rows of blue glass then amber and then silver. Ceramics, glasses, utensils, skillets, mincers, jewelry and much more. Oh and did I mention there is a room of mirrors and a picture room with cigar boxes. After my seizure of excitement we decided to walk around the plaza which was amazing considering the weather was gorge. That evening a group of friends (almost all the same people as First Friday) we...
