Yesterday my Gma took me out to my second favorite restaurant in the KC area. In case you are in KC or will be visiting KC, here is a list of my top favorite restaurants here. (They are my favorites for not only amazing food but ambiance/atmosphere as well.) 1. Lulu's Thai Noodles Thai food in a cool urban style building. I love their panang curry, chicken satay, and pad thai tofu. 2. Andre's This is a Swiss Confiserie. They have changing daily specials though always have the option of a quiche lorain. Their desserts are to die for (ie rum diamond or napoleons) and their mango tea is killer. 3. Korma Sutra This is an Indian cuisine restaraunt, with the option of a buffet at certain times of the day. I love love love their Gosht korma, naan and mango lassi. 4. Arthur Bryants This is one of KC's finest barbeque spots. I like the burnt ends and fries. 5. Cupini's Cupini's makes amazing fresh pasta every day from scratch. Their spicy mozzarella balls will put hair on yo...

Peachy

Image
I thought I would just mention that I was all about the peaches today. I had several forms of them, canned, jarred, baked, jammed and artificial. I had homemade peach jam on toast for breakfast, made warm peach dumplings with cold ice cream for dessert at lunch time, had peach tea from Quicktrip and finished the day with having peach jam in my oatmeal. Mmmm. So good. I wish I had photos to share but this morning was a little hectic and I wasn't thinking about taking pictures at the time. Speaking about Quiktrip drinks, since we had the 49 cent 32 oz drinks all summer I saved all my cups and I have been collecting other people's cups. Now I have a set of 14 or so and I plan on taking them with me to California so I have some cups I am not worried about messing up. And I found out today that you can put the cups, lids and straws in the dishwasher with no problem (though I don't believe I will have a dishwasher in LA, it is just good to know.) PS Unless you want to be visual...

Superpowers

Image
It's a bird! Its a plane! Its my blog today! The above picture can be found on the Heading East blog (over on the right), I believe it is a picture of his sons playing around. I like it because it reminds me of my childhood when Nae and I would dress up as super heros. My gma Marrineau actually made a spandex mask and shoe coverings with wings on them to look like the Flash. Though I think the above picture is of them being Luchadors, I am not sure. It seems like this week had several (well maybe not several , but more than normal) super hero references. Starting with NPR's This American Life episode on Superpowers . Initially I thought the podcast was going to be about the world powers like China, Europe as a whole and America...etc. No, it was actually about people who believe or really really wish they had superpowers. Then I follow that up with watching Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World with Nae and my Dad. I love how they used typography in several shots and how they used vide...

Odds and Ends

First off, I would like to announce that I now have a place to live in Los Angeles! I wrote about it on my new "Chi Alpha" blog titled Becoming a Bruin (so if you want to see what I am up to ministry wise, just jump over there). I will be staying in a wonderful little guest house. It is pretty much the most perfect situation for me and I am beyond excited. I have slowly but surely started to prep for moving to LA. My mom found me some $.50 (yes that is cents) kitchen gadgets the other day. I now have a can opener, a liquid measuring cup, a colander and matching bowl and a couple spatulas. Also, the other day I soaked baby food jars in hot soapy water in hopes that the label emulsion would soften and peel off completely. I became impatient and scraped the rest off with my fingernails. After they dry completely I plan on filling them with the spices that I bought from the market. I haven't decided the best way to fill the jars... by spoon, funnel, straight up pouring......

Spice Up Your Life

Image
Colors of the world Spice up your life Every boy and every girl Spice up your life People of the world Spice up your life Okay, enough of the Spice Girls. Though I did spice up my life yesterday, starting with the farmers market where I bought some amazing spices. They smell oh so good. Italian Spices Ginger Curry Turmeric Dill Poppy Seeds (spice?) Some of the essentials. They give you a heaping scoop and a half for only $1 which in the spice world is a steal. So I plan on doing some research this next week and finding out which spices are most expensive and then just buying them there. Though only spices I will actually use because if I spent money on something I won't use, you aren't actually saving money no matter how cheap it is. I spiced my hair up yesterday as well. I bit the bullet and did a more drastic style than I was planning. It is the shortest I have ever had my hair cut. Kind of a short haired Sienna Miller meets short haired Michelle Williams. It takes me a whil...

To Cut or Not To Cut

I dropped my computer off at Microcenter today because it has another crack in it for no apparent reason. Since they were supposed to fix this problem last month, they are fixing it for free as they did the first time since it was under warranty. Basically that means that I am on a different computer than usual. The keys are just enough off from what I am used to that I can't seem to write a single word without some typo. I would probably be better off typing on my own computer with mittens on while under the influence of a strong cough medicine. f';lxdfjhlksdfjgl;kjdsl;kjdfgj Anyways, when coming home from work yesterday I was surprised to find my mom had bought me some kitchen gadgets for my birthday. They are the basics like whisks, a cutting board, an apple cutter, measuring cups, a blender, knives, bamboo spoons nothing too fancy but amazing none the less. Having my gadgets plus taking the initiative to take my computer in, dropping off mail at the post office and stopping...
