Awe

I had to work on Easter, and when I got home I was exhausted because it was surprisingly busy. Basically Easter didn't seem too too different than any other work day. Other then the fact that it meant my Lent fast was over and I could wear makeup and the fact that I wore a cross necklace which was my only way I could really dress up for such a day. One thing did happen Easter morning when I arrived at work though...it is shamefully majestic and I really hope I don't sound like the double-rainbow-guy (you know what I'm talking about) so please don't judge me. I had just counted down the money in my drawer and was completely prepped for customers to come in when I looked across the street (two walls of my workplace are made of glass, we have great natural light by the way) and I noticed something odd was happening to a tree. The wind wasn't blowing but the branches were moving vigorously and some of them laterally. I strained my eyes to see what was going on, since t...

I know I talked about makeup on my last post but I am going to talk about hair for a second here. A few months ago I cut my hair the shortest I have ever cut it before. I was told it matched my face shape real well, which I agree with but I keep seeing pictures and interviews with Adele, and her hair makes me miss my long hair. See what I mean? Though I wasn't entirely convinced I wanted to grow it out again. So I asked a couple friends I was with at the moment (one of which loves long hair and the other loves short hair) and in unison they replied that I should grow my hair out. Growing hair out from this length can be tricky ricky... a lot of awkward stages. So I have looked up a few looks that I like and I feel can work with some of the in between stages. One issue I see coming up in the near future is the hair at the nape of my neck. It is growing much faster then the hair on the top. I could cut that off and try and wait for the rest of my hair to grow out. Like this style (th...

I'm not exactly what you would call a girly-girl, nor would I really categorize myself as being a tomboy either, I have my moments in both categories. I think this is due to having brothers and having a mother who was delighted to have a daughter. I remember playing with action figures, playing like we were vampire slayers, and making bow and arrows out of sticks in the backyard. I also remember playing with My Little Ponies, wearing Tinkerbell makeup and playing like I was a mermaid in my gparents' pool. I feel like Emma Stone says it well in the following quote. As I have gotten older certain things have carried on. I have upgraded from Tinkerbell makeup and have moved onto the real stuff. I enjoy playing with different colors, and styles like a smokey eye, a cat eye, emphasizing lips or only eyes, etc. Though, over time I have realized I have developed somewhat of a reliance upon makeup, to make me feel confident, presentable and beautiful. When I realized my complete depend...

Happy Holidays

There is nothing like visiting my family and friends during the holidays. My days here in Kansas have been full and eventful. And cold, very very cold. I'm not here that long, and I have more people to see than days available. I'm making my rounds and catching up at a rapid speed. I'll check in with you later. But just wanted to wish you a Hanukkah Shalom and a Merry Christmas!

In Loving Memory

Yesterday we lost a wonderful and beautiful person, Marie-Ange, my dear friend in Haiti. She will be missed by many many people. I am thankful I had her in my life, even if just for a short time. Marie-Ange Noel 1985-2011

Let me start off with a side note,it turns out that I may not be getting the bicycle I mentioned yesterday. Turns out the back rim will cost a lot more than expected. Pewp. Though I have been checking Craigslist and Chubby's Cruisers. Onto the real reason for this post. Lately I have noticed weird trends in my vernacular, some of which can be traced to specific circumstances and trends of those around me. Other trends though have come completely out of left field (which I believe is a baseball term that means "out of nowhere"). I have been known to abbrev words before, whatev... nothing new, though these new additions have been more and more prevelant. Current linguistic "trends" which I have been practicing: - I have created my own suffix "-ems" and add it to a plethora of words and sometimes even names, which doesn't change the meaning of the word whatsoever. Also it must be spoken in a nasally almost whiny voice that is almost reminiscent of a S...

My Life = Bananas

Aside from Week Zero and Week One happenings (will talk more in depth on on my other blog) I have been able to squeeze in a few other things. Like finding a wonderful bike lady who only has one bike left in her inventory since she is going on a bike-selling-sabbatical. Evidently it is teal (my fave color), is a simple fat cruiser (what I was looking for), has a basket (also what I was looking for) and should fit my height as well as my budget. Oh and she mentioned it has fur accents... I didn't really know what that meant, I thought possible cheetah print decals. Well she sent me the following photos of said lovely bike and I have been enlightened. She said the fur is easily removable. Though I like it and it adds a little "spunk," I think I will remove some of it because it might be a bit much for my taste. Like leave the bar and seat and remove all the rest or maybe remove all but the basket. Not sure just yet. In addition to campus antics and finding a bike I have also...
